New & easier application process!
Southern Tennis Foundation, the charitable arm of USTA Southern, has announced a new, easier process for applying for four $1,000 scholarships for incoming college freshmen.
The scholarship is $1,000, which is renewable for four years, if the student maintains a 3.0 or better GPA, remains a full-time student, and does not otherwise receive a full college scholarship.
All Southern residents who meet the criteria are encouraged to apply.
Minimum Criteria for Selection
- Current member of the USTA
- Current resident of a Southern Section state (AL, AR, GA, KY, LA, MS, NC, SC, TN) with residence in a Southern state for a minimum one school year.
- Active tennis player who has:
o Been ranked top 500 in Southern in past two years.
o Played on a high school team for two years, or
o Played in a Junior Team Tennis or NJTL team or program for two years
- Does not otherwise have a full scholarship.
The application requires a high school transcript, college entrance exam scores, a short essay and simple financial need information. Completion of the application takes about 20 minutes.
Recipients are expected to engage in publicity about the scholarship, themselves, and the role of tennis and education in their lives and submit a photo and/or video.
